Dublin castle
Dublin Castle has been the centre of Dublin since the Vikings built the first fort here in 930. Various invaders added to the structure over the centuries. Today, Dublin Castle is a fascinating mixture of styles and tells the story of the powers that ran Ireland until its independence.

Dromoland castle
A magnificent renaissance castle was built in the 16th century. The castle was refurbished in 1962 and now serves as a luxurious hotel. Well accessible from Shannon airport.
